Ivory Coast: the government activates the National Consumption Council.

#Côte d’Ivoire : le gouvernement active le Conseil national de la consommation.

While the price of fuel at the pump has just waited for 600 F CFA francs, the Ivorian government has decided to relaunch the National Consumer Council (NCC), an advisory structure formally established in 2016.

For the second time in four months, the pump prices of super and diesel fuel are increasing in Côte d'Ivoire: already increased from 580 to 595 CFA francs (0.88 to 0.91 euros) per liter on 1 December 2017, they rose to 600 F CFA per liter on April 3, a consequence of the resumption of world oil prices. It had been seven years since fuel had not reached this price level in the country.

The NCC will be responsible for studying the issues related to the consumption of goods and services or consumer protection submitted to it by the government and may issue opinions on legislation likely to impact consumption. In addition, the CNCO will have to prepare an annual report on the state of consumption.

The 32-member body aims to "better protect consumers and build capacity to defend their interests". Voir la version en français.
